{"id":39831,"date":"2026-03-26T15:56:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T13:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greece20.gov.gr\/?p=39831"},"modified":"2026-03-27T15:01:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:01:54","slug":"seventh-payment-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greece20.gov.gr\/en\/seventh-payment-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Commission greenlights Greece&#8217;s seventh payment request for \u20ac1.18 billion under NextGenerationEU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the European Commission positively assessed Greece&#8217;s seventh payment request for \u20ac884 million in grants and \u20ac294 million in loans, totalling \u20ac1.18 billion, under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/reforms-investments.ec.europa.eu\/recovery-and-resilience-facility-1_en\">Recovery and Resilience Facility<\/a>, the centrepiece of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/eu-budget\/eu-borrower-investor-relations\/nextgenerationeu_en\">NextGenerationEU.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Following its assessment of the payment request, the Commission found that Greece has satisfactorily completed the\u00a0<strong>20 milestones and 6 targets<\/strong>\u00a0set out in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.consilium.europa.eu\/doc\/document\/ST-15754-2025-ADD-1\/en\/pdf\">Council Implementing Decision<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>reforms and investments\u00a0<\/strong>tied to this payment request will benefit Greek citizens and businesses, particularly through advances in the energy transition, transport, social inclusion, the digitalisation of public administration, healthcare, and an improved business environment.<\/p>\n<p>Flagship measures in this payment request include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establishing Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>first CO\u2082 storage facility<\/strong>, alongside an\u00a0<strong>annual CO\u2082 storage reporting system<\/strong>\u00a0to support industrial decarbonisation;<\/li>\n<li>Providing\u00a0<strong>personal assistants for at least 1,500 people with disabilities<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Renovating\u00a0<strong>nine hospitals<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>15 primary healthcare units<\/strong>, and creating\u00a0<strong>chronic disease management units<\/strong>\u00a0nationwide;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementing a major IT upgrade for the Tax and Customs Administration<\/strong>, including additional equipment for staff to enhance tax audit efficiency and public revenue collection;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Digitalising driving licence services<\/strong>, simplifying procedures for issuance, renewal, vehicle transfers, and licence plate registrations;<\/li>\n<li>Improving\u00a0<strong>access to affordable mortgages<\/strong>, and providing\u00a0<strong>financial incentives for private investments<\/strong>, including corporate co-financed loans, InvestEU guarantees for small and medium enterprises, and equity support for innovative companies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Next steps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Commission has now sent its preliminary assessment of Greece&#8217;s fulfilment of the milestones and targets required for this payment to the Council&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/economic-financial-committee.europa.eu\/index_en\">Economic and Financial Committee<\/a>\u00a0(EFC).
